New England Canoe Poling Championships. Farmington River, Unionville, CT. 22 May 2011.
The races were located on the Farmington River at the Route 4 bridge parking area in Unionville, CT.
The Unionville gauge was at 1530 cfs and water levels were roaring. The rapids below the starting line were quite heavy and not suitable for racing so all the races went upstream from the starting line.

Fred preps his floatation. Many racers used flotation today w/ the heavy water.

Sean on his Open Slalom race doing the annoying reversal. Currents here were light, but the move was annoying because the currents were conflicting and there were a lot of rocks to navigate between.
